If you have been tasked with organising any type of Hen Event it can be quite a daunting prospect. The usual concerns are around finding a great location or venue that fits everyone's budget while meeting the requirements for the bride to be.
Although it has become very popular to go abroad for an extended break there is an increase in groups staying within the UK and finding some amazing locations that have everything on site.
We were booked to attend some beautiful venues last year ranging from manor houses to glamping sites. All of them had a wide range of facilities (some including a private pool). It's really worthwhile checking websites that offer group accommodation such as airbnb and you may be surprised to find reasonably priced options. As with any booking you are usually better to get in early so advance planning is the key.
Understanding what the bride to be would feel comfortable doing is the next big thing. Surprises are great as long as it is something you know she would like to do. Take into account who is attending as well - would they be able to, or want to take part.
There are so many events available including things like life drawing that can be brought to the venue saving you having to organise transport away from your location. This can reduce your group costs. It's always good to look at what a supplier is including in the price to make sure you get value for money.
Here are a few tips to setting up a successful event.
Set up a Whatsapp group (or similar) for everyone attending.
Agree individual budget from the start to avoid any issue or embarrassment.
Have a list of potential options available to put to the group.
When booking - get any money from your group up front (trust us it saves any issues later).
Have a few dates that you are all available just in case venues etc are already booked.
Research is key - check out reviews, it may take time but it pays off!
Have a folder set up with contact details for venue and event providers.
Be up front about what is achievable within budget. You will only give yourself more pressure by trying to do everything.
Most of all though have fun, If it's done right you should also be able to relax and enjoy the event and let the suppliers take the strain!
